BOWIE, Md. – Leading 4-3 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, JC Flowers allowed a walk-off, two-run home run to Colton Cowser as the Baysox defeated Altoona, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon at Prince George’s Stadium.

Flowers entered in for the save opportunity in the ninth inning and struck out the first batter he faced. Andrew Daschbach then worked an 11-pitch walk, which included five consecutive foul balls to reach first base. Cowser then crushed a 2-0 pitch over the right-center wall to end the game for Bowie, who took four of six games in the series over Altoona.

The Curve, who trailed most of the game, scored two runs in the eighth inning to take the 4-3 lead. Matt Fraizer opened the inning with a single and advanced to third on a Nick Gonzales double. Endy Rodriguez then singled to score Fraizer, but Gonzales was thrown out at the plate by left fielder Toby Welk. Blake Sabol and Malcom Nuñez followed with a pair of singles to score another run and give Altoona the late lead.

Rodriguez went 3-for-4 on the day with three RBI and a run scored. He crushed an RBI double in the fourth inning to score the Curve’s first run of the day. Later in the sixth, it was an RBI-single that scored Jared Triolo from Rodriguez to give him his second hit of the day. Triolo was injured crossing home and had to leave the contest.

Quinn Priester allowed two runs, with one earned, in three innings on the start. He allowed five hits and struck out six batters. Omar Cruz made his first appearance since returning from the injured list, allowing one run in two innings of relief before Jeff Passantino tossed two scoreless innings. Tahnaj Thomas threw a scoreless eighth inning for Altoona.

The Baysox scored one run in each of the second, third, and fourth innings before being kept quiet until the ninth inning. Joey Ortiz hit an RBI-double in the third inning off Priester, while Toby Welk hit an RBI-single in the fourth off Cruz.

It was the second-straight game with three hits for Rodriguez. Fraizer had two hits in the contest as well.
