BOWIE, Md. – With the game tied 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Connor Scott robbed a potential game-winning home run and Altoona went on to score three runs in the tenth to fuel an extra-inning victory, 10-8, over Bowie on Saturday night at Prince George’s Stadium.

Altoona held a 7-6 lead entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but Andrew Daschbach hit a solo home run off Tyler Samaniego to tie the game. Samaniego struck out the first batter faced in the ninth inning before Hudson Haskin launched a shot to right field, sending Scott into a full sprint before leaping at the wall and robbing the home run to extend the game. The next batter grounded out to send the game into extra innings. Samaniego allowed one run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout in two innings.

In the tenth, Liover Peguero scored the placed runner on an RBI-single off Jake Prizina before stealing second base to get into scoring position. Scott then singled back up the middle to score Peguero and give Altoona a 9-7 lead. Nick Gonzales followed two batters later with an RBI-single of his own to cap a three-run tenth for the Curve.

Austin Roberts entered for the Curve in the bottom of the tenth and gave up an RBI-double to John Rhodes on the first pitch to score the placed runner. He followed with three consecutive strikeouts to end the contest and pick up his second save of the season.

Altoona jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the contest, scoring twice in the first and second innings. Blake Sabol hit a two-run home run in the first inning off Garrett Stallings, his 14th of the season to give him a new career-high.

Aaron Shackelford and Fabricio Macias paired together two singles in the second inning and advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Scott then lifted a sacrifice fly for Altoona’s third run before Jared Triolo lined an RBI-double into left-center field to make it 4-0.

The Baysox rallied for three runs off Kyle Nicolas in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Adam Hall bounced into an RBI-fielder’s choice. John Rhodes then rolled what seemed to be a double-play ball, but Peguero could not make the play cleanly, resulting in a run scoring on the error. Andres Angulo hit an RBI-double in the next at-bat to cut the lead to one run for Altoona. Nicolas allowed three runs, two earned, in four innings on three hits, three walks, and a strikeout.

Altoona responded with a run in the fifth thanks to a Malcom Nuñez ground-rule double off Stallings, scoring Endy Rodriguez, who hit his second double of the game to open the inning. The Baysox would add on two runs in the sixth inning off Brad Case to tie the game 5-5, but Rodriguez smashed a solo home run to center field off Clayton McGinness in the seventh to break the tie. It was the fifth home run for Rodriguez in 14 games in Double-A. Peguero would add an RBI-double in the frame to give Altoona a two-run lead.

Nick Dombkowski allowed a run back to Bowie in the seventh inning before the game-tying shot in the eighth. Joey Ortiz scored on a wild pitch after being walked to open the inning. Dombkowski allowed one run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout inn 1.2 innings.

Triolo, Scott, Nuñez, Peguero, and Rodriguez all had multi-hit games in the win. Altoona improves to 6-4 in extra-inning games this season. Every batter in the starting lineup recorded hits for Altoona as the Curve had 15 hits in the win.

Altoona and Bowie wrap up their six-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. RHP Chayce McDermott will start for Bowie, with Altoona sending RHP Quinn Priester to the mound.
