South Atlantic League Playoff Procedures
Series #1, Best-of-3
• 1st Half Northern Division Champion vs. 2nd Half Northern Division Champion or Northern Division Wild Card Team
• 1st Half Northern Division Champion hosts Game 2, and if necessary, Game 3
• 2nd Half Northern Division Champion (or Northern Division Wild Card Team) hosts Game 1
• Series #1 winner is Northern Division Champion
Series #2, Best-of-3
• 1st Half Southern Division Champion vs. 2nd Half Southern Division Champion or Southern Division Wild Card Team
• 1st Half Southern Division Champion hosts Game 2, and if necessary, Game 3
• 2nd Half Southern Division Champion (or Southern Division Wild Card Team) hosts Game 1
• Series #2 winner is Southern Division Champion
Series #3, Championship Round, Best-of-5
• Northern Division Champion vs. Southern Division Champion
• In even-numbered years:
- Southern Division Champion hosts Games 1 and 2
- Northern Division Champion hosts Game 3, and if necessary, Games 4 and 5
• In odd-numbered years:
- Northern Division Champion hosts Games 1 and 2
- Southern Division Champion hosts Game 3, and if necessary, Games 4 and 5
• Series #3 winner is South Atlantic League Champion
Determining the Wild Card
If the second-half winner in either division is the same as the first-half winner in that division, then the team with the next best overall record in that division will be chosen as the Wild Card.
If two or more teams are tied for the Wild Card position in either division, then the following series of tiebreakers will be used to determine the Wild Card:
• 1. Better record in head-to-head competition
• 2. Best second-half record against divisional opponents
• 3. Best overall (full-season) record against divisional opponents
