Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville Woodpeckers (32-36, 1-2) were down 6-0 before grabbing the bats on Sunday afternoon and trailed throughout in a 10-7 loss to the Augusta GreenJackets (38-31, 2-1) at Segra Stadium.

Augusta did all of their scoring in the first three innings, crossing six runs against Shea Barry (L, 0-2) in the first inning, two more in the second, and two against Kasey Ford in the third to go up 10-0.

Carlos Calderon took over out of the bullpen in the fifth and was dominant, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings while allowing just two base runners and striking out six.

The Woodpeckers scored all three of their runs in the seventh inning while facing Darling Florentino. Logan Cerny doubled home the first run, Rainier Rivas grounded in another, and a Tyler Whitaker RBI single cut the game to 10-3.

Despite the one three-run rally, the Woodpeckers offense struggled to convert their other chances, leaving a season-high 15 runners stranded on base throughout the game.

The Woodpeckers will be off on Monday and begin a new six-game series on the road Tuesday at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC against the Carolina Mudcats.
