FRISCO, Texas (June 26, 2021) – The Frisco RoughRiders walked off the San Antonio Missions 5-4 on Saturday night from Riders Field.

Entering the ninth, the Riders (31-16) held a 3-1 advantage, but San Antonio's (23-24) Allen Cordoba rammed a go-ahead three-run home run to give the Missions the lead 4-3 into the bottom of the ninth.

In the home half of the ninth, Bubba Thompson delivered a double inside the third-base bag plating Matt Whatley easily to tie the ballgame at 4-4. In the same play, Jax Biggers tripped over the second baseman Eguy Rosario while on his way to third base causing both to fall over. Biggers was thrown out at home initially, but obstruction was called and Biggers was awarded home as the game-winning run.

The Riders posted three early runs in the first inning as top prospect Josh Jung deposited a three-run homer into the left field seats, giving Frisco a 3-0 advantage.

It took until the sixth inning to plate the next run on a Rosario RBI single, giving the Missions their first run of the night.

Fernery Ozuna (3-0) got the win for the RoughRiders despite allowing the go ahead home run in the top half of the ninth inning.

Mason Fox (2-2) was tagged with the loss as he tossed 0.1 innings allowing the walk-off double by Thompson in the ninth.

Both sides are back in action for the finale of the six-game set Sunday night at 6:05 pm from Riders Field.

Sunday night is Kids Sunday Funday presented by Children’s Health℠. It’s also Great Outdoors Night where the first 500 kids take home a RoughRiders bucket hat. Get your tickets at RidersBaseball.com or call 972.334.1993.

About the RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 15 seasons (2005-2019). In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. Since then, the new ownership group, together with the City of Frisco, has spearheaded numerous major franchise enhancements, investing over $8 million in a wide array of facility upgrades and improvements, including a state-of-the-art HD video board, sound system, Bull Moose Saloon, InTouch Grille, Riders Outpost Team Store and the world's largest water feature in a sports facility, the massive Lazy River. These enhancements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco Ballpark Digest's prestigious "Best Ballpark Renovation" award for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). More than 160 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball. For more information on the Frisco RoughRiders, please visit RidersBaseball.com or contact [email protected]
