May 30, 2008
The Iowa Cubs used late inning rallies to beat the Memphis Redbirds 10-3 Friday night.

Rich Hill threw three innings in his first outing since coming off the disabled list, in front of 10,377 people at Principal Park. Hill struck out five while allowing three runs.

Memphis took a 3-0 lead in the third inning when David Freese hit a three-run homer.

In the fourth inning Felix Pie tripled and was driven in on Matt Murton's single. Murton then scored on McGehee's sacrifice fly to cut the lead 3-2.

Iowa's offensive surge did not stop there. The Cubs scored one run in the fifth to tie the game 3-3 and took a 4-3 lead when Andres Blanco hit an RBI single in the sixth inning. Murton and McGehee each doubled in the eighth inning and put the Cubs ahead 6-3.

Eric Patterson drove in Blanco before Pie's three-run homer highlighted the Cubs' four-run eighth inning. Patterson was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI on the night. Six of Iowa's starters recorded a multi-hit game.

Three Iowa pitchers combined to strike out 11 Redbirds. Mike Burns (3-4) got the win for Iowa while Anthony Reyes (1-1) was tagged with the loss.
