CHARLOTTE, N.C.Lewin Díaz collected three hits, including a home run, in Sunday’s series finale, but the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp fell 5-4 in 10 innings to the Charlotte Knights at Truist Field.

Jacksonville (13-11) led 3-1when Adam Haseley walked to begin the eighth. A wild pitch bumped Haseley up to second, and three batters later, an error on a fly ball allowed him to score to pull Charlotte within 3-2.

Seby Zavala then started the ninth inning with a home run to left to knot the score at three.

Díaz put the Jumbo Shrimp back in front with an RBI single to begin the 10th inning.

However, in the bottom of the inning, Yolbert Sánchez’s one-out single against Jacksonville reliever Robert Garcia (1-1) scored Hasley, who was the inherited runner, to equalize the score at 4-4. An intentional walk to Yoan Moncada and Ryder Jones single loaded the bases before Garcia struck out Zavala for the second out of inning. Micker Adolfo followed with an infield single up the middle to score the winning run for Charlotte to earn a series split.

Moncada initially opened up the scoring back in the first with a home run to put the Knights up 1-0.

The score remained that way until the fourth. Nick Fortes led off with a single before Díaz smashed a two-run shot to left-center for Jacksonville’s first lead.

A pair of one-out singles by Fortes and Díaz put runners on first and second in the fifth. After a fly out, JJ Bleday dunked an RBI base hit to center to extend the advantage to 3-1.

Huascar Brazoban worked 3.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen in the effort for the Jumbo Shrimp.

Jacksonville begins a six-game series at the Memphis Redbirds with Tuesday’s 12:05 p.m. ET contest. Coverage begins at 11:50 a.m. on ESPN690 and ESPN690.com.
