Visalia, CA – The Quakes’ pitching staff had a night to remember as Rancho won for the eighth time in nine tries in Visalia this year, beating the Rawhide by a final of 9-4.

Five Rancho pitchers combined for 20 strikeouts, falling just one shy of a franchise record that they set earlier this year at Inland Empire, as they won for the second time in three games in this series at Valley Strong Ballpark.

Sauryn Lao contributed offensively, with three hits and three RBIs, as the Quakes posted nine runs on just eight hits, taking advantage of seven walks and six wild pitches from Visalia’s pitching staff.

Marco Hernandez delivered the go-ahead home run, as his three-run blast in the second inning against Junior Mieses (2-7) put the Quaeks ahead to stay at 4-2.

Rancho starter Nick Nastrini struck out five over two innings, allowing a pair of unearned runs.

Emmett Sheehan (1-0) was credited with his first pro win, as he fanned six over 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Rancho (54-44) will remain 8.5 games out of a playoff spot with just 22 games to go, as they send Robbie Peto (1-3) to the mound on Friday night in game four of the six-game series. Visalia will answer with Kyle Backhus (1-0) with game time at 6:00pm.

The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 31st, as they host the Lake Elsinore Storm as part of a seven-game series over six days. Tuesday will be Temblores Tuesday, presented by the Art Laboe Show Live. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
