Three Top Prospects join Springfield

Springfield, MO - The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that three of the organization's top prospects are joining Springfield from High-A Peoria in INF Masyn Winn, RHP Michael McGreevy and RHP Gordon Graceffo.

Winn, 20, is ranked as the Cardinals #5 prospect by MLB.com and has been electric with High-A Peoria this season, batting .349 with one home run, 11 doubles and seven triples in 33 games, while going a perfect 15-for-15 stealing bases. The dynamic infielder was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2020 Draft as a short stop and a pitcher out of Kingwood (TX) High School. Winn was listed by Baseball America as the "Best Athlete", "Fastest Baserunner" and "Best Infield Arm" in the Cardinals organization entering the season.

McGreevy, 21, became the Cardinals' top pick in the 2021 draft when they selected him 18th overall in the 1st round out of the University of California - Santa Barbara. McGreevy has been excellent with Peoria in just his first full professional season, going 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA in eight starts, tallying 44 strikeouts and only four walks in 45.1 innings. McGreevy opened the season by winning the Midwest League Pitcher of the Month Award for April and is currently tabbed as the Cardinals #8 prospect by MLB.com, while Baseball America lists him as having the "Best Curveball" and "Best Control" in the system. Among many accolades, McGreevy was a semifinalist for 2021 National Pitcher of the Year by the Collegiate Baseball Foundation after his final season at UCSB.

Graceffo, 22, has also dominated the Midwest League in his first full pro campaign, going 3-2 with a miniscule 0.99 ERA in eight starts, allowing just five earned runs on only 27 hits and four walks while striking out 56 batters in 45.2 innings. While McGreevy claimed league honors in April, Graceffo was named the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April, going 2-0 with a 0.83 ERA through four starts, allowing only two earned runs and only one walk while striking out 30 batters in 21.2 innings. Currently ranked by MLB.com as the Cardinals #22 prospect, Graceffo was picked by St. Louis in the 5th round of the 2021 Draft out of Villanova University.

The trio joins fellow MLB.Com Top 30 Prospects 3B Jordan Walker (ranked #1), 1B Malcom Nunez (#13), INF Delvin Perez (#24), C Julio Rodriguez (#25), RHP Connor Lunn (#26) and OF Moises Gomez (#30) on Springfield's roster.
